We went to our trusted dry cleaner, who confidently advised us to hand wash it with a gentle soap. The important thing is not to leave it soaking for too long. Two hours is sufficient.
Rub it only under water to avoid damaging it.
Pat it dry with a towel. Lay it flat on the clothesline.
Iron it with a heat source suitable for cotton and therefore at medium/high temperature
