Vintage è stile di vita

Vintage is a lifestyle

How often have you gone into a vintage shop and smelled what I call “old and lived in”?
How many times have you heard yourself say "But this garment stinks", or "I don't wear something used".

Of course, I am of the opinion that every human being has the right to have their own opinion, especially about it. However, I am also convinced that there is little information and awareness of what one buys.

But, if you are here, on this page, reading this article, it means that most likely you are already predisposed to love a vintage garment.

Vintage is old, it's lived in. A garment that tells a story, which while you smell it, takes you back in time fantasizing about the life of the wearer.

The most fascinating thing though, is that you are creating a new one. Yours.

But what do you encounter when you decide to buy a vintage garment? it takes a little awareness that, when dealing with a garment from the past, the latter could present some signs of aging, some peculiarities that I personally do not consider a defect. Like us humans.
Some items may have a patch, a stitch, a stain, a burn. Just like us. And for this it deserves to be thrown away?
We all often tell ourselves “I deserve a second chance” and often give too many to the wrong people. And a broken dress? A stained shirt?
An old boss? A used garment?
We all deserve a second chance. Let's also give it to vintage.

And that smell? You know what I mean?
Come on, that smell you found or still find in grandma's closet. That smell of leather, of old, almost of cigar or smoked. Similar to the leather of the famous leather sofas of yesteryear. That smell of camphor that grandmothers put inside every single pocket of jackets and trousers. That smell that when you enter a vintage shop, you almost feel like going back to your grandmother's closet wearing her extravagant furs. It's not smelly, it's not dirty. That same smell you might find here too, when you buy a unique and dated piece.
You must therefore be aware that buying a piece of the past also means, and often, taking home its smell, its scars and its experience.
Without forgetting that if you buy a vintage garment from a basin to the environment.

Let's all give ourselves a second chance and support the eco-sustainable world.

Thanks for reading me. With love and immense gratitude,

Jessica and Mici ♥︎
