Wash your coat only in competent laundries.
If you want to save money, there are ways to wash your leather at home.
First, make sure you use the right detergent. Common laundry detergents can cause chapping of leather. or damage it. There are also various conditioners to soften it.
Soak the coat in warm water, don't rub even if you notice a stain, but rather do it with a soft cloth.
There's a method to effectively remove bad odors: white wine vinegar. The smell of vinegar is very volatile, and if you leave the item outside, the smell will disappear. Remember to always turn any leather item inside out before washing.
Place the coat on a dry towel and roll the towel up so you can wring out the garment without applying direct friction. Leather tends to fray easily.
NEVER let the garment dry on a hanger because the weight of the water will cause it to deform.
Lay it out horizontally on a clothesline.
Let the leather dry in a warm, ventilated, and bright place, avoiding direct sunlight. Avoid drying leather over radiators or direct heat sources, as this could distort or damage the leather.
If you prefer to dry clean your coat, a special spray will suffice.
Is it wrinkled? A common leather problem. If your garment is wrinkled, you can either iron it on a low heat setting, or cover the leather side with a towel and iron it on a medium-low heat setting.
Don't overdo the heat, the leather will stick and you'll ruin your favorite jacket!
