We, who love our cats as if they were our children, who care for them with immense love as if it were our only mission in this world.
However, one rather unpleasant factor torments us every day: HAIR.
Especially during the change of seasons. I realized I needed to find a solution effective enough to keep me from being suffocated by a myriad of hairballs.
And after numerous experiments and endless research, I've found some quick and easy solutions that can make coexistence between our pets and our cats easier. We can't work miracles, but at least we'll avoid spending too much money every month on hair-catching rollers that often turn out to be useless.
Now I'll reveal some effective tricks to limit their presence.
- IF YOU HAVE A DRYER , dry your clothes before washing them. Run the clothes through the dryer on the cold cycle. Set it for 10 minutes, then check the results. If hair is still present, continue drying for another 5-10 minutes. Remember to clean the dryer filter. Then, transfer the clothes to the washing machine and run the desired cycle.
- WHITE WINE VINEGAR. Inexpensive and always available at home, it's very useful for removing cat hair. This is due to its acetic acid content. Before starting the wash cycle, add about 120 ml of vinegar to the fabric softener compartment. Be careful, however, to only use it in small amounts and avoid using it on extremely delicate items. Wool and silk, for example, don't mix well with vinegar. The great thing about it is that it's very beneficial for hygiene and the cleanliness of the washing machine itself.
- REGULAR CLEANING OF APPLIANCES. Always make sure the washing machine drum is clean and free of hair after each wash. The same goes for the filter. Hair often clogs the drain and can cause serious damage to the washing machine's motor and circuit board due to the strain involved in draining. This would not be a pleasant experience, and it would not be economical at all.
- DRYER BALLS / RUBBER WASHING MACHINE BALLS. Inexpensive and effective, dryer balls not only help clothes dry better but also help remove hair. Plastic washing machine balls, on the other hand, have the ability to attract hair, lint, and other debris once placed in the washing machine drum.
- POLYPROPYLENE. There are polypropylene bags that allow you to wash your cat's items or accessories without cluttering the washing machine drum or clogging the filter. They are readily available.
- KITCHEN SPONGE. Yes, the classic kitchen sponge. Place it in the washing machine drum before washing. This will ensure that the hair sticks to the sponge. They're real hair catchers! Use only clean, smooth sponges. Be careful not to overfill the drum.
